Acceptable Use Policy
What may and may not be hosted on the Gotka network. These rules protect our customers, our infrastructure and the wider internet.
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to every service we provide and to everyone who uses your account — including your staff, clients and website visitors who submit content. It forms part of our Terms of Service. If you operate websites for others, you are responsible for ensuring their compliance.
01Prohibited content
You may not host, publish, store, link to or transmit content that:
- is illegal under the laws of Malaysia or of the jurisdiction where you operate;
- sexually exploits or endangers minors in any way — we apply zero tolerance, terminate immediately and report to the authorities;
- infringes copyright, trademarks or other intellectual property, including pirated software, cracks, key generators and unlicensed media distribution;
- consists of malware, viruses, ransomware, spyware, phishing pages, browser exploits or files intended to compromise other systems;
- promotes or incites violence, terrorism or hatred against any person or group;
- is defamatory, fraudulent or deliberately misleading, including fake shops, counterfeit goods, pyramid or Ponzi schemes and deceptive "get rich quick" operations;
- publishes another person's private or personal data without lawful basis;
- offers regulated products or services (for example gambling or pharmaceuticals) without the licences required where the service is offered.
02Prohibited activities
- Unauthorised access or attempts to probe, scan or breach any system or network, including other accounts on our servers.
- Launching, controlling or participating in denial-of-service attacks, botnets, port scanning or IP spoofing.
- Running open proxies, open mail relays, anonymised exit nodes, or IRC servers/bots.
- Cryptocurrency mining or other sustained compute workloads unrelated to serving websites.
- Using hosting storage as a generic file locker, media archive, or destination for backups of other systems.
- Reselling our services as your own hosting brand without a reseller arrangement agreed with us in writing. (Hosting websites you build and manage for your own clients is welcome.)
- Interfering with service to any other user, host or network, or circumventing plan resource limits.
03Email and anti-spam rules
Email sent from our network must be permission-based and traceable:
- No unsolicited bulk email. Recipients must have opted in, and you must be able to show evidence of consent on request.
- Purchased, rented, scraped or harvested mailing lists are prohibited.
- Every bulk mailing must identify the sender truthfully and include a working unsubscribe mechanism; opt-outs must be honoured promptly.
- Plan-level sending limits apply (currently up to 100 outbound messages per hour per account) together with per-message size limits shown on the hosting plans.
- We recommend publishing SPF, DKIM and DMARC records for every sending domain; we can help you set these up.
- Activity that results in our mail servers or IP ranges being blacklisted may lead to immediate suspension of mail services.
04Resource usage
Plans include defined CPU, memory, entry-process, disk, inode and bandwidth allocations, enforced per account by CloudLinux so that one site cannot degrade another. Scripts must be reasonably efficient: long-running background processes, aggressive cron schedules (more frequent than every 5 minutes without cause) and abusive crawlers may be limited. If your site consistently needs more than your plan provides, we will contact you about optimising or upgrading rather than suspending without warning.
05Security responsibilities
- Keep CMS software, plugins and themes updated; outdated software is the most common cause of compromised sites.
- Use strong, unique passwords for the client area, cPanel, email and databases.
- A compromised account may be isolated or suspended to protect the network; we will notify you and assist with clean-up, but repeatedly re-infected sites must be remediated before restoration.
06Reporting abuse
To report spam, malware, phishing or illegal content hosted on our network, email support@gotka.com with the subject "Abuse report", including the URL or message headers and enough detail for us to investigate. We review all reports and act on verified violations.
07Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and take action proportionate to the issue: removing specific content, throttling resources, suspending the service, or — for serious, illegal or repeated violations — terminating the account under section 10 of the Terms of Service. Where the law requires, we will report content or activity to the relevant authorities. No refunds or SLA credits are payable for suspensions caused by AUP violations, and fees remain due for the affected period.
08Changes
We may update this AUP as threats and regulations evolve; the current version is always published here with its effective date. Material changes will be announced through the client area or by email.
